Mod 1960's Raffia and Plastic Beaded Purse

Description:  This is a super cool vintage 1960s mod handbag, with a bold molded thermoset plastic (resembling celluloid) purse frame, and faceted plastic beads, woven in raffia. All done in an off-white, ivory or eggshell color. The purse frame has an interesting clasp mechanism, whereby a metal knob is depressed and the purse pops open! Lined with tan cotton inside, there's an elephant on a label and it says "Made in Hong Kong." No maker's name.

Condition: Excellent condition.

Size: 8.5 inches high, 8 inches wide, 3 inches deep.

1930's Brown Silk Velvet Evening Bag with Clear Lucite Frame- SOLD!




Description: This is a sweet 1930's vintage handbag made of brown silk velvet, with an interesting carved clear lucite frame, and ball and loop style, etched goldtone metal clasp. Inside is lined loosely with tan satin. No signature.

Condition: Very good shape, some stitches open on one corner of the frame. 

Size: 8.25  inches wide,  6.52 inches tall and about 2.5 inches deep. Velvet handle is 12 inches total end to end and adds about 5.5 inches to the height when carried.

1950's Black Ribbed Box Purse with Change Purse and Mirror - SOLD!




Description: Here is a great 1950's rectangular clutch bag of black ribbed fabric with a goldtone turnlock clasp. Inside it is really exquisite with black satin edged in metallic gold, and a little pocket for the matching coin purse, plus a pocket holding the original rounded edged mirror. No signature but quite well made!

Condition: Excellent.

Size: 8 inches wide, 4 inches deep and 1.75 inches high.

1950's Black Velvet Evening Clutch Bag with Bow - SOLD!


Description: Here is a sweet little 1950's clutch with goldtone frame, kiss lock, made of black velvet with a fabric bow on the front. Lined in satin. No signature but there is a letter "B" on the outside hinges.

Condition: Minor wear on the interior, the outside is in excellent shape.

Size: 8 inches wide, 6.5 inches tall and about 1 inch deep.

GUCCI Vintage 1960's Designer Handbag, Horseshoe Clasp  - SOLD!

Description: This is an amazing late 1960's authentic Gucci Italian leather purse. It is black leather in a small sassy Kelley shape bag with a double strip of black suede on the top and a handsome equestrian-inspired goldtone horse shoe good-luck clasp. Short wide strap for carrying is imprinted "Gucci" at the base, and inside it says "Made in Italy by Gucci, Mod. Brev. N.23.368. In the corner is the number 82. The lush red leather interior has 3 side compartments including one with a red plastic zipper. The leather is ultra smooth and it comes with its original Gucci protective cloth bag.

Condition: The bag is in excellent vintage condition with a few spots in the interior and minor wear to the outside corners, see all photos by clicking on the picture above. The outer cloth bag has brown spots.

Size: 9.75 inches wide by 7 inches tall, the handle is 12.25 inches in total length and the depth of the purse is 2.75 inches.

1920's Whiting & Davis Gold Mesh Deco Purse

Description: This little beauty is in fantastic shape, as if it were never taken by its Flapper owner out for a night on the town. In beautiful shiny gold mesh, this signed Whiting and Davis evening bag has a molded goldtone deco purse frame and a fold-over clasp. Lined inside with creamy blush satin, it has a nice strong little chain. Signed "Whiting & Davis Co. Made in USA" in the frame and it has the original cloth label, too.

Condition: In excellent, clean vintage condition with no missing mesh, no tarnish, no soiling, it's pristine.

Size: 4.75 inches tall by 5 inches wide.

1940's Black Drawstring Evening Bag with Silver Sequins - RESERVED!

Description: This charming purse may have been home-constructed and it is therefore a one of a kind! It is made of heavy black ribbed cotton twill, gathered and shirred in places, with hundreds of glittery silver round sequins sewed on it. There's a satin faille cord that forms the drawstring, and the bottom of the bag is a rectangle of black silk velvet. It feels like there's something stiff such as cardboard between the lining of the purse and the velvet base. The stitches inside are hand sewn. No label.

Condition: In excellent vintage condition with a couple of missing sequins, hardly noticeable.

Size: 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide, by about 4.5 to 5 inches deep. Handles extend approx. 6 inches above the purse.

1930's Micro Petit Point B. Altman Austrian Purse, Black with Roses  - SOLD!

Description: This fine example of micro petit point tapestry is a sharp looking black evening bag with lush roses and dahlias, in enticing muted shades of pink, lavender, gold, cream and peach. The brass frame is elegantly engraved, and the push-to-open center metal clasp is a beautiful piece of Austrian scrollwork. The jewelry-thin metal chain is formed in a handsome geometric pattern.

The rich floral petit point motif is repeated on both sides, and it continues on the sides and bottom. The inside is lined with blush color silk satin, with two interior pockets. The label says "Made in Austria Expressly for B. Altman & Co., Fifth Avenue, New York."

Condition: In near perfect condition with the only previous sign of prior use being a couple of teeny dark-ish marks inside, possibly an ink or make-up smudge, but it's very inconspicious. The outside is pristine with no signs of wear, it is in remarkably fine shape.

Size: 7 inches wide at the bottom (fabric), 6.75 inches wide at the top (frame). It is 6.25 inches tall not counting the clasp. Expands to about 3.5 inches wide, maximum. Metal chain handle is 15 inches measured end to end, and allows the purse to be suspended by 6 inches.

This DVD is a treat for anyone who loves clothing and American history. There is a special focus on New England, and in particular the history and people of Grafton, in Southern Vermont. The show includes historical photographs and narration, with 31 live models drawn from the community and 100+ wardrobe changes. Morning Glorious Vintage supplied many of the outfits and organized the show. Length runs about 1 hour 15 minutes. Proceeds go to the WCC Scholarship Fund.
