About Morning Glorious Vintage...

Picture
The shop is 1500 square feet, full of colorful delights, full but never cramped or crowded. In this beautiful 1890s storefront we love the high tin ceilings, exposed brick and old timey checkered floors. There is a menswear department, a designer boutique and lingerie room, and a small selection of vintage decor. We have two changing booths, and lots of comfortable seating throughout for the weary shopper.

Is Morning Glorious expensive? Nope! Prices range from $3 up to several hundred for very special things, with the average item in the store reasonably priced, at just $24. The typical customer at Morning Glorious spends between $30 and $44. I frequently mark things down am never insulted if you ask for a better price. Oh, and the big $5 bin (an antique laundry basket on wheels from an old nunnery) is very popular to dig through and find a $5 treasure. I'm pretty ruthless what I put in the bin - you'll find some cutters but also many gorgeous garments with nothing wrong with them - they're just $5 because they haven't sold quite fast enough.

If you need a gift, we have Gift Cards available in denominations from $20 on up!

Is Morning Glorious a consignment shop, and do we purchase vintage? No, it is not a consignment shop. It is not a thrift store, it is a true vintage store and everything is carefully, purposefully sourced. I select items for quality, era, authenticity, condition, and that "dopamine dressing" wow factor. It's all here to put a smile on your face! And every washable item is clean and mended before it goes on the racks.

NEW SHOP POLICY as of 5/6/26: We do NOT purchase items directly from the public in the store. We are no longer accepting walk-in's. Please do not bring in clothes, accessories or jewelry etc., for sale or trade without prior communication.

If you have vintage garments to sell, please send photos by email with a brief description of what you have, and mention if there is a price you wish to get. I will review the pictures and get back to you promptly.

There are certain items we typically always need in stock (such as true vintage, all cotton Levi's blue jeans), but all items will be evaluated by email first, based on current season, garment size and intended gender, item condition, space available in the shop and other desirability factors. There are items we never purchase, including furs, wedding dresses and children's sizes. We do not purchase antique clothing that is not wearable. If you have closets full of women's or men's vintage, or a house full, I am available to do wholesale closet clean-outs, and if you are within 35 miles of Brattleboro, I can come to you.

Most of our inventory is from the 1960s through the 1990s with a preference for bold 80s fashions. Some vintage brands and makers we typically purchase include: Balenciaga, Ballantyne, Cache, Carhartt, early Liz Claiborne, Coogi, Dior, Diane Freis, Susan Freis, Gap, Gunne Sax, Harris Tweed, I.B. Diffusion, Betsey Johnson, Norma Kamali, Kanga Collection, Lanvin, early Ralph Lauren and Double RL, Lee, Leonard, Levi's, Carole Little, Marimekko, Missoni, Alexander McQueen, Vera Neumann, New Concepts, Nicola, Notations, Olga, Adrianna Papell, Parsley & Sage, Penthouse Gallery, Emilio Pucci, Lilly Pulitzer, Rappi, Sonia Rykiel, Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, Scala, Elsa Schiaparelli, Silkscapes, Robert Stock, Ann Tijan for Kenar, Pauline Trigere, Ungaro, Valentino, Koos Van Den Akker, Vanity Fair, Adrienne Vittadini, Richard Warren, Woolrich, Wrangler, Young Edwardian, Zegna.

Does Morning Glorious have MEN'S clothing? YES! Despite our girly name and hot pink walls, Morning Glorious has a great selection of ever changing masculine vintage! We specialize in cool aloha shirts, flannel shirts, real vintage cotton jeans by Levi's, Wrangler, Lee and Carhartt, amazing graphic t-shirts from the 70s, 80s and 90s, and depending on current stock you'll also find menswear trousers, tweed jackets, denim jackets, coveralls, overalls, men's shoes and western boots, hats, cuff links, sunglasses and unique stuff: shaving items, old magazines, socks. You might find a pair of 1920s buckle back French trousers or a WWII Ike jacket with the pilot's papers still in the pocket!

Does Morning Glorious have kid's clothes? We do not carry children's clothes, but you will find a few teen sized pieces that can fit a kid or fit like women's XXS.

We also strive to carry cute PLUS SIZE vintage and often have a wide variety of XL, XXL and 3XL items!

Do we offer garment ALTERATIONS? YES! As of 1/1/26 we are thrilled that we now have Eli and Krista Coughlin-Galbraith on our team! Saturdays are Sewing Saturdays with Krista - between 3:00-5:30 PM, you may bring her items from home that need simple REPAIRS like buttons or snaps attached, open seams closed, etc. And Eli is doing tailoring by appointment. You can have jackets taken in, trousers hemmed and all sorts of custom alterations on either clothes you already own, or pieces in the shop you purchase which need to fit you better! Rates are reasonable, please inquire to set an appointment time for a garment fitting.

Does Morning Glorious offer WORKSHOPS? Yes! Our first workshop with Stephanie Greene on the lost art of hemming and sewing on buttons was a fun success! Next, Labhan Dinwoodie lead a workshop on visible mending of knitwear. Follow our Facebook page for future events!

The shop runs smoothly with my valued shopkeeper helper Cecil, and with Krista, Eli and a small team of young sewists helping us with inventory repairs.

WHEN YOU VISIT: park in the Elliot street entrance of the Brattleboro Transportation Center, which is now called Zone 3 or 05303, OR look for a spot on the street or in the nearby Harmony lot, now combined with Elliot street and called Zone 4 or 05304. Parking in Brattleboro is "pay-by-plate," and you'll find the parking kiosk located just slightly to the west of the Morning Glorious shop for on-street parking, as well as more kiosks in the BTC parking garage and in the Harmony lot. Kiosks accept both coins and credit cards. You can also text 774-47 to pay by phone (you just need to know your license plate number and provide a payment method, no app needed), or use the Park Smarter app on your phone. I am happy to help you with parking questions or glitches!

WHERE to EAT?! When in Brattleboro, don't miss dining at Peter Havens, or Kiplings Tavern, both right on our side of the street on Elliot. Kiplings does not take reservations, so get there early. For a special dinner you won't forget, TJ Buckleys is the bomb! The new Sages Pub in the Latchis hotel on Flat street has the best artisan cocktails, as well as small Mediterranean plates and waffles with a wide variety of meat, cheese and veggie toppings! They are open til midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Marigolds on Main street has yummy food and live music. Echo on Main street is fab, too. At lunchtime, we love Halo Hallow across the street, and Amy's Bakery and The Works! The Vermont Country Deli at I-91 Exit 2 is world famous for the mac 'n cheese. For a snack or a soda, the Indo market across from us is a unique tiny neighborhood store that also offers hard to find Indian spices and chutneys. Top it all off with artisan chocolates from Tavernier on Main, or delicious ice cream from Bluberry Haus just down the block on Elliot!

WHERE ELSE to SHOP? Brattleboro is full of unique galleries, antiques shops, used bookstores and not to be missed retail delights. When you're in town, see a movie at the historic Latchis theater, grab a beer at Midnights, check out a concert at the Stone Church or an art house film at Epsilon Spires. Get your hair cut on the fly at our next door neighbor, Gene's Barber Shop. As you explore, be sure to stop in these beloved Brattleboro one-of-a-kind merchants!

I'm Jen, the friendly fashionista, and I have been a vintage clothing seller now for 25 years. My prior background is in art photography, jewelry design, music publishing, hospitality, sales and customer service. I live in Brattleboro with my two formerly feral cats.

Morning Glorious is on Etsy (MorningGlorious) and the vintage brick and mortar retail store is located at 62 Elliot Street, Brattleboro, Vermont.

Morning Glorious has been featured in the New York Times, Elle magazine, Vogue, and USA Today, which selected my first Putney shop back in 2012 as one of the Top 10 Best Small Vintage Stores in the country. For two and a half decades, Morning Glorious has provided unique vintage garments to customers, collectors, fashionistas and museums all around the world, as well as wardrobes for regional and Broadway theater productions, independent films, photography shoots, fundraisers, fashion shows, and acclaimed Hollywood television series, such as Mad Men and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
